I'm writing to you from the Paris offices of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). I've been browsing a panel discussion that you took part in on this platform, and a number of your comments struck me as quite relevant to a work stream we are beginning with my team here at UNEP.
I am part of the Secretariat of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP), which was adopted by heads of state at Rio+20 and is essentially a framework to accelerate the transition to more sustainable modes of consumption and production in both developed and developing countries.
One area where frankly we have not invested enough time and resources is engaging the private sector. Over the past several months I have been getting together a work stream on this front, in particular looking at how we can involve the private sector through the angle of investing in innovation for SCP.
We have had an initial workshop at the World Resources Forum in Davos last month, and would like to develop a comprehensive roadmap, with input from the private sector, on concrete activities and investments which a framework like the 10YFP can facilitate, connecting investments with ideas.
Would love to chat to see if some in your network would be interested in participating in this initiative, to see how a multi-stakeholder framework like the 10YFP might be able to contribute to and facilitate some of the excellent work that you and your partners are doing.
Please do not hesitate to be in touch directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Very much looking forward to being in touch.
