Business and the Sustainable Development Goals - Building Blocks for Success at Scale

With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) now adopted, attention is shifting to how they will be delivered. While responsibility will ultimately fall to government, leaders across sectors now recognise that the challenges are too great and too systemic for any one of them to tackle alone, and that business’ contribution will be pivotal.

There is growing appreciation that business is well positioned to drive sustainable and inclusive growth and development impact. And there is growing appreciation of the need for business to take action at scale. Leading examples exist, but to achieve the SDGs, we will need to move such examples from the cutting edge into the mainstream.

An event was held on 27 October in London to mark the launch of a new report by Business Fights Poverty and The Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School that identifies a framework of building blocks for enabling  business action at scale.
